How do I get to the launch from Almaty?
About an hour west of the city, paved most of the way with a short dirt section. A private transfer from your hotel is included in every product we sell.
In detail
Ushkonyr is about an hour from central Almaty, west and then up. Paved road almost all the way, with a short dirt section to the launch that is fine in a normal car in dry weather and is not in the wet.
Every product on this site includes a private transfer from your accommodation and back, and the pilot programmes include airport pickup at Almaty (ALA). We include it rather than selling it separately for one reason: the whole point of paying for a scheduled slot is that we go when the air is good, and a shared vehicle at a fixed hour makes that impossible.
Getting to Almaty itself: ALA has direct flights from most of Europe, Turkey, the Gulf, China and Russia. It is also four hours by road from Bishkek across a land border, which is what makes the two-country trip work.
